Award-winning design, soaring spaces
This theatrically conceived warehouse conversion was commended for a Victorian Architectural Award for innovative design after its completion in 1995. The residence - built as a corrugated iron-clad three storey 'block' within the towering shell of a former factory - is as striking today as it was then and is surely one of the most spacious city-fringe conversions of its kind.
A security lobby at one side of the unadorned faade leads into the vast atrium garden and courtyard which wraps around three sides of the house.
