Big on Space, Big on Family Appeal
Owners Notes
After 9 very happy years of living @ 60 Albion Street, our family of 5 is making a regional move to where my husband grew up. We are sad to leave this beautiful home and if we could pick it up and take it with us, we absolutely would.
We have loved living in this house and in this community. After moving up to Brunswick East from Fitzroy North with our 2 boys we knew the house was amazing. We did have some initial considerations about living on Albion but we soon discovered that behind the big red brick fence we had the perfect setting for our growing family. We added double glazing to the bedroom at the front of the home and never looked back.
In 2017 when our daughter arrived we decided to extend the house with an upper level including 2-bedrooms, a retreat and bathroom for the boys. We also opened up the living spaces downstairs and added the openable doors to the back of the house to allow a better connection between the house and the garden. With 4-bedrooms and 3-living spaces our family of 5 are never on top of each other. We can entertain in both summer and winter and have plenty of space for both kids and adults.
The boys love their upstairs retreat area where many a Nintendo battle or nerf war has been waged taking in the whole upper level (including the storage room). The storage room is one of my favourite things about this house. It is accessible without climbing ladders, it is dust-free and enormous. I can store our wetsuits, snow gear, board games, camping gear, spare linen and all manner of things in there in a neat and accessible way. It is a luxury that not many homes close to the city have and it has been amazing.
My husband loves his wine cellar and his workshop and we all love our garden. The aspect from the house is incredibly green and the lawn space and driveway is well-utilised for soccer, basketball and cricket. Hidden behind the high brick fence, the front garden and deck is also well-used. With hydronic heating the house is always cosy and easy to heat and a number of split systems keep the house cool in the summer.
We have amazing neighbours and along with all the Albion Street residents and the boys football club at Allard Park we are part of a lovely community. Jones Park and the Merri Creek walking tracks are at the end of the street to the east and the amazing cafes, bars and restaurants are just around the corner on Lygon Street to the west. We are spoilt for choice with Cirelli’s bakery, Brunswick East Wine Store, Padre, Figlia and Mr Wilkinson all within a 5-minute walk of us.
We hope that if you are lucky enough to purchase this house, you are as happy here as we have been.
