Foundation Day 2024 was a resounding success, raising $266,652!
At Nelson Alexander, we’re committed to building stronger communities through meaningful action. Since 2005, our Charitable Foundation has proudly supported organisations improving the neighbourhoods we call home.
Foundation Day, held on Saturday, October 12th, saw each of our offices donate the professional fees from one auction to local charities, with this year’s funds going to organisations helping those affected by abuse

Big Group Hug provides essential items for disadvantaged children and teens. Our Foundation Day donation will go toward supplying cots and bassinets to families escaping domestic violence.

Lort Smith’s Emergency Welfare Assistance program offers temporary foster care for pets of those in crisis. Our donation supports this service, giving peace of mind to pet owners experiencing domestic violence, homelessness, or hospitalisation.

The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is Victoria’s leading provider of Aboriginal child and family services in Victoria. Our contribution will fund a bystander empowerment program to encourage action against bullying, harassment, and violence.

McAuley Community Services for Women supports women and children experiencing family violence and women experiencing homelessness. Our donation will fund Chromebooks to help children continue learning in safe, secure environments.

CASA House is part of the Royal Women’s Hospital and provides specialist counselling support and advocacy for victim-survivors of sexual assault. Our funding will help expand support groups and services for those seeking recovery and community.

Juno is the only gender-specific, non-faith-based service in Naarm’s (Melbourne) north dedicated to supporting women (trans and cis), non-binary people and children who are experiencing homelessness and/or family and intimate partner violence. Our donation helps them provide critical support and foster dignity and respect for those rebuilding their lives.

Organisation: The Kew Neighbourhood Learning Centre – Threads of Kindness

Kew Cares (now Threads of Kindness) was born out of a mutual care and concern for women and children who have been impacted by family violence. The Kew Neighbourhood Learning Centre and the Women’s Liberation Halfway House (now YANA - You Are Not Alone) want to see their community-engaged, connected, and united on this issue, and believe Threads of Kindness is a piece of the puzzle. Our funding will help produce everyday essentials, like bedding and soft toys, for those in need.

Safe Steps is Victoria's statewide family violence crisis service, offering a 24/7 crisis line staffed by trained specialists for safety planning and risk assessment. They provide wellbeing-focused activities like art and yoga therapy to promote healing and empower women to escape violence. Our donation will fund these yoga and art therapy programs.

RizeUp addresses the critical needs of families escaping domestic violence by transforming empty houses into safe homes with tailored furnishings. Their work includes providing children with age-appropriate toys and school supplies to help ease the transition to new schools. Foundation Day funding will help create safe and nurturing homes within our business footprint, ensuring no financial burden is placed on families.
Working closely with partners like Safe Steps and McAuley Community Services, RizeUp furnishes homes for survivors, ensuring anonymity and safety.

Donation: $16,146
Berry Street works to support children, young people, and families impacted by family violence, trauma, and neglect. Through their Northern Family, Youth, and Parenting programs, they offer vital services that ensure safety and support for families in crisis.
Foundation Day funding will go towards initiatives like the Parenting After Violence Group, a trauma-informed program helping parents rebuild relationships with their children. Additionally, funds will establish a material aid pool, offering emergency relief and resources to improve the lives of those facing abuse and disadvantage. This work is critical in preventing trauma from passing through generations and fostering hope for the future.

Donation: $7,034
OzChild has been supporting children and young people in foster and kinship care for over 170 years, believing every child deserves the chance to thrive. This year, Foundation Day will support their Chance to Shine (C2S) program, providing scholarships to vulnerable young people in their care.
The scholarships cover essentials like school supplies, uniforms, and public transport, as well as opportunities for artistic and sporting pursuits. These funds ensure young people with “the will but not the means” can access the same opportunities as their peers, helping them shine.
