Forget the car – trains, trams and buses make it easy to travel anywhere from multi-cultural Northcote (7 km north-east from the CBD).
There’s terrific shopping in High Street and a multitude of all-nations cafes and restaurants: and there are bars, galleries and music venues. With the influx of people attracted to the features of the suburb, it is becoming increasingly gentrified. The diversity of housing makes Northcote suitable for a wide range of people. You’ll find workers’ cottages, older homes (many now renovated), period homes on deep blocks, and some houses with expansive views.
